“O Krishna, the stillness of divine union which you describe is beyond my comprehension. How can the mind, which is so restless, attain lasting peace? Krishna, the mind is restless, turbulent, powerful, violent; trying to control it is like trying to tame the wind.” Bhagavad Gita
How to attain ‘the peace of mind’? I feel stillness is the answer. Have heard a saying ‘with action we conquer cold…with stillness we conquer heat.
When in stillness we see things which we normally overlook in real time. Have we noticed today a bleeding dog on the road crying in pain, have we noticed today a hungry child destined to absurd poverty, have we seen today an old woman trying to cross the road in twilight of her life. But when in stillness mode i go through these terbulations. After these terbulations is spirituality. Every living being can become spiritual at this point of realisation. You need not be a wandering bearded saint to be spiritual. And with spirituality Peace is attained.
We are seeing violence all-around. Violence of destruction, violence of mind, violence of power. The underlying reason is that we have isolated ourselves from other person s’ suffering. Their is a vicious cycle all around. The resulting insensivities lead to more violence-violence in home, violence on roads, violence over regionalism, violence over nations, violence over religion. The result is LOST PEACE.
When we are still, our mind go beyond the ordinary, go beyond the routine. We realise that there are such great pains all around that we are fortunate.’Iss duniya mein kitna gham hai, mera gham kitna kam hai…!'(theres’ so much pain all around that I now feel that mine is a small one as compared to much greater hardships).
With stillness I realised that world has the probability to be in peaceful state. An understanding is required. Sensitivity is required. Every citizen has to have some time to be with himself. Then realise what are the plusses of peace and perils of violence. Everyone, even an al-qaeda terrorist, wants peace. When this spirit takes over the human conciousness humanity will flourish. And would not perish, as it seems to be now.
“the poor long for riches, the rich long for heaven – but the wise men long for peace of mind”
Live with smile.Live with Stillness. Live with Peace.
